Living Examples - Paul - A Faithful Life

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?’ ‘Who are you, Lord?’ Saul asked. ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ He replied.”
      Passage: Psalm 133:1-3

I like the technology of GPS, but I don’t like to listen to the voice that tells where to go. Generally, I figure I know the roads I should take, so I turn the sound off so I don’t have to listen to the voice on my GPS. I did that when we were coming home from a recent trip over 200 miles south of Grand Prairie near San Antonio. While driving, we picked a fast food restaurant to stop at on our way home. The place was on the opposite side of the freeway, but in my rush to get back on the road after we got our food, I forgot I needed to go back under the freeway and turn left. I turned right and began going south. I was oblivious that I was going the wrong way until I heard Pam’s voice telling me, “You’re going the wrong way. Turn around.” Wisely, I listened and got back on the right road.

Physically, Saul was on a road to Damascus, where he was traveling to arrest Jews who confessed Jesus as Messiah. Spiritually, he was on the wrong road, which was leading him to an eternity separated from God. But on that Damascus road, he encountered Jesus and heard the voice of Jesus speak to him. He listened to that voice, repented and believed in Jesus. Repentance means to turn around. It means you turn away from sin and self and turn to Jesus and trust Him only. Saul did that and he got on the right road of a relationship with God and eternal life. He then lived a faithful life on that road and his impact will continue until Jesus returns. God has a plan to use you to make an impact that will last beyond your earthly life. Saul set a great example for you. You can learn from him and be a great example of a faithful life for others.
