     Passage: 1 Corinthians 10:11-13

Every one has to deal with temptation. The reason is that Satan hates God and He hates people, because God loves people. Jesus said Satan is a thief who “comes only to steal, kill and destroy.” (John 10:10a). Satan has two goals. One is to keep people from believing and receiving Jesus, because the moment anyone turns to Jesus, that person is saved for eternity. Two is to destroy the witness of anyone who is a believer and to hurt his or her life.

What a blessing it is to know that when you know Jesus, you don’t have to deal with temptation alone. Temptations all fall into one of three categories, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. (1 John 2:16) In the wilderness, Jesus dealt with all three. He defeated Satan and did not give in then and he never gave in for one moment through His entire life on earth. When you give in to temptation, He is always ready to forgive and set you back on the right path. But He also has grace available to help you have victory over temptation when you deal with it according to the example He set. Follow His example and have victory today over whatever Satan bring
