Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. . . having been buried with Him in baptism and raise with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raise Him from the dead. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.”(Colossians 2:9-13)
     Passage: Romans 10:5-13

The first church that I served in full-time was located next to a funeral home with a couple of houses in between. The church had bought those houses to be used as parsonages for staff and we lived in the house closest to the funeral home. On that side of where we lived, we had very quiet neighbors, because those who were there overnight were dead. How different it would have been if life could have come into those who were there.
Jesus did not come to make bad people good or good people better. He came to make spiritually dead people be made spiritually alive! Salvation comes to anyone who will admit he has sinned, believe Jesus died and rose again, and then confess Jesus is Lord and receive Him as Savior. At that moment of belief and confession, the Holy Spirit enters, gives eternal life a person is raised up to a new life in Christ. Baptism is a living picture of salvation, how sin is washed away and how God raises us up to new life. It is a picture of our hope and a reason to celebrate.
