Passage: Romans 8:35-39
When the Jewish people returned to Israel after the Babylonian captivity was over, they did not return to an uninhabited land. The land of Israel was still filled with a mix of people whose families had not been taken into exile. That included some Judeans who were from the poorest of the people and left to farm the land, Samaritans who had moved into some of the areas and non-Jewish people. They weren’t please to see a group of Jews return to reclaim property and reestablish themselves. The returning Jews had a natural fear and anxiety about dealing with these people, but in spite of that, they came together in unity to build the altar in Jerusalem and worship God.
One of the blessings of worship is security for the soul. Fears and anxieties are normal when facing the trials and uncertainties of this world. God’s Spirit is everywhere, but Psalm 22:3 tells us that God inhabits praise. That means that His presence is manifested in power when His children worship Him. Being in God’s presence gives a sense of peace and security in the midst of any storm. Nothing can separate you from God’s love and nothing is greater than His power. Praise Him with all your heart.
