God Never wants His People to become Complacent in His House

Passage: Psalm 44:1-8
Every local church has a history of when and how they were established. It’s very rare to find a church that built a facility before they started. The first group of people caught a vision of a new church that would minister to their community and world, preach and teach the gospel and see God’s kingdom expanded. The people were excited and willing to do whatever they could to see their church grow. The people in that church were thrilled when they were able to find land and build their first building. Over time, it’s often seen that the church begins to turn inward. They focus more on taking care of their own members and see very few new people come to know Christ and follow in baptism. They focus on maintenance more than ministry.
God doesn’t want His local churches to be that way. He wants them to be thankful for His blessings in the past, but never to get so comfortable that they become complacent in the present and lose sight of His purpose for them to glorify Him and keep working with Him as He builds His kingdom.
