JOINING GOD AT WORK - God is Building His House

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “. . . They finished their building according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius and Artaxerxes, kings of Persia; and this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.” (Ezra 6:14b-15)
      Passage: Psalm 23:1-6

A survey asked people, “What is your church preference?” One lady answered, “Red brick”. Thinking of a church as building is certainly a common usage of the word, church, in our language, but there is not one time in the New Testament that church is used to refer to a building. The word church always refers to God’s people, who have confessed Jesus as Lord and received Him as Savior. The church is the family of God.

Buildings that are built by God’s people are houses for local families of believers. God showed His attitude toward the buildings when He allowed His temple to be destroyed, not just once, but twice in history because His people did not keep using the house in the way God purposed for them to be used. As long as a church uses the house of God properly, they will have God’s blessings to guidance. Pray that houses of worship will be used for the glory of God.
