Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Finally they said, ‘Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?’ John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, ‘I am the voice of one calling in the desert, “Make straight the way for the Lord.’ ” (John 1:22-23)
          Passage: Matthew 24:36-47

Yesterday, we celebrated the birth of Jesus. Today is a good day to be reminded that his birth led to His life, which led to His death on the cross, which led to His burial in the tomb, which led to resurrection, which provides our salvation. Every gift you received or gave pales in comparison to the gift of Jesus for us, but the gifts should be reminders of His gift.
Receiving the gift of salvation is not the end. Like the birth of Jesus, it is the beginning. It is the beginning of the design of God for you to be on mission for Him. John the Baptist understood who he was and why he was here. He had a mission and he fulfilled that mission with all his heart. Jesus came with a mission, and He fulfilled that mission perfectly. God has a mission for us to “glorify Him and work with Him to build His kingdom.” Jesus came the first time as a suffering servant. He is coming back as the conquering King. As you look ahead to 2026, set your heart to be on mission for Him.
