Being Faithful to His Call

      Passage: Psalm 121:1-8

Two men were out fishing on a Sunday morning. They didn’t catch anything and didn’t even have a bite. One said the other, “Well, I guess we should have stayed home and gone to church.” His friend replied, “I couldn’t have gone to church today anyway. My wife is sick and in bed.”  Now, going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, but if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, going to worship is an act of faithfulness as a Christian.

As He was moving forward toward the cross in his final week on earth, Jesus told a parable to challenge people to be faithful to His call. Everyone who lives has a call from God to come into His forever family through believing and receiving Jesus. Those who reject His call of salvation will spend eternity separated from Him forever. Those who respond to His call of salvation receive a second call. That is a call to service in His Kingdom. This call requires faithfulness in life and that is where many believers fall short. The parable of the Talents contains principles that will help you walk in faithful service and fulfill the purposes God has for you. Be faithful and shine for Jesus.
