First Baptist Church Grand Prairie
The First Baptist family welcomes you to our web site. First Baptist Church is a growing, loving fellowship of believers committed to glorifying God and working with Him as He builds His Kingdom here in Grand Prairie and around the world. The ministries you will find at First Baptist reflect our desire to minister to people in every stage and walk of life. If you live in Grand Prairie or the surrounding area, we'd love for you to come join us for worship and Bible Study. If you live away from our area, but come to the metroplex over a weekend, come join us and experience for yourself what God is doing in our midst.

Have a great day and remember - Jesus is Lord!
Reaching

At First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie, we are reaching out to have a positive impact for God's Kingdom in our city and beyond.  We do this through diligent outreach to let everyone know of the life-changing power that is found only in Christ Jesus.  If you and your family are looking for a place where you can make a positive difference we invite you to come join us as we are used by God to be "salt and light", reaching one neighbor, friend or loved-one at a time.
Teaching

At First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie, we teach and preach the Word and the practical application of God's direction in our lives.  The Bible comes to life through Dr. Skaar's sermon series, through invigorating teaching in a variety of Bible Study classes that will make you feel right at home as you grow in Christ.
Serving

Join with us at First Baptist Church as we do more than simply talk about loving our community.  You'll find our family providing food through our food pantry, making a difference through community projects coordinated with the City of Grand Prairie, joining up with Habitat for Humanity to help make homes out of houses and mission projects that have taken our members throughout the U.S.A. and to places like China, Indonesia, Germany & Peru.  If you want to be part of a family who truly cares about its community and beyond, First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie is where you want to be.  We look forward to growing with you.

 I AM RESOLVED

"I exist to glorify God and work with Him as He builds His Kingdom."

Week 5: I Am Resolved To Reach Out to God's World   Luke 5:17-26

On Sunday, Bill reminded us that the church is a living organism. We, the members, comprise its many parts. However, too often we think of the church as an organization and allow the organization to take over the organism. It becomes difficult for the church to function properly when that happens. The church was established to fulfill five specific functions: worship, discipleship, fellowship, service, and evangelism. The first four functions will be accomplished on earth and in heaven. Evangelism is the only function of the church that will be accomplished on earth.

Luke's account of Jesus healing the paralytic illustrates the need for believers to reach out to God's world. There are five principles the church must consider in order to accomplish the task of evangelism on earth.

  1. Have compassion for lost people. The church must reach out to a lost world through compassionate ministry.
  2. Cooperate with others. The church is strongest when members work together to accomplish its mission of reaching a lost world.
  3. Be willing to be creative. The church's methodology sometimes must change in order to make the truth of the gospel culturally relevant.
  4. Have confidence in Christ. The church must tell a lost world about Jesus confidently knowing He has the power to save lost souls.
  5. Celebrate God's work. The church joyously celebrates when lost people come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

Our FAITH outreach ministry begins with an orientation session at 6:00 p.m. on February 12 in the Fireside Room. FAITH equips believers to share their testimony using a simple outline based on the letters F-A-I-T-H. There will be class sessions on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. to help learners understand the process of sharing the FAITH outline. It is a simple but powerful tool that anyone can use anywhere at anytime to share their testimony. Prayerfully consider joining our FAITH outreach ministry this semester. Join us for the orientation on February 12 and see how being part of a FAITH team can help you reach out to God's world.

What will you do this week to serve Him?

I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
