| Joel Salazar - Minister of Music

Joel began his ministry at First Baptist Church in November, 2009 having been in the music ministry for over 25 years. He is a graduate of Houston Baptist University, 1983, where he received his Bachelors in Music Education and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1988, where he received his Masters in Church Music. He is married to Rebecca (Becky) who also graduated from Houston Baptist University in 1983 receiving a Bachelors in Church Music and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1986 where she received her Masters in Religious Education. She recently went back to school having earned a Masters in Social Work at the University of Houston and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Joel and Becky have three children. Robin, a 2011 graduate of Howard Payne University, is enrolled in the master's program at Dallas Baptist University. John, a Junior at East Texas Baptist University is studying Business Management and also plays on the Tiger Soccer Team. Ruth is a Freshman at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and is majoring in Violin Performance. Joel's love for church music has allowed him many different opportunities for ministry. He is excited to be partnering with a great staff and program at First Baptist Church. |

| Charles Smith - Minister of Education

Charles began his ministry with FBC in February 1988 as Minister of Children and became Minister of Education in March of 2006. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia , Arkansas in 1981 with a BA degree in Speech Pathology, and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987 with a Master of Arts in Religious Education degree. Charles is completing a doctorate in educational leadership at Dallas Baptist University. Debbie, his wife, leads our Day Care Ministry. Debbie also graduated from Ouachita in 1981, and from Southwestern Seminary in 1990. Charles and Debbie have two children. Erin is a 2006 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and is an account executive with Lifetouch. Jordan is married to Stephanie and will graduate in December 2011 from the University of North Texas in Denton. Charles assists church program organizations in developing a comprehensive program of Christian education for our entire church family. |
Gwen Maier - Minister of Children

Gwen began her ministry with FBC in November 2011 after spending four and a half years as Minister of Children at First Baptist in Stephenville, TX. Gwen has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University, a Master of Library Science from Texas Women's University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Dallas Baptist University. Prior to becoming a Vocational Minister of Children, Gwen had a career as an Elementary School teacher and then as an Elementary School Librarian. During those years she served the Lord actively in her local church and always had a passion for Christ and children. When the Lord called her to enter vocational ministry, she enrolled at DBU and the Lord then opened the door for her to serve in Stephenville and now at FBC, Grand Prairie. Gwen was married to Mike, who passed away in 2009. She has one son, Andy and a daughter-in-law, Christi, and a granddaughter, Avery who is the most precious child in the world - just ask her! Gwen gives overall direction to all aspects of the children's ministry at First Baptist and is a blessing to the entire church family.
